In Case You Were Wondering

For those that have given me much grief over the thought of raising six children... yes, I do have some concerns.

I need your vote...

So I was thinking... We have obviously all witnessed the booming technological advancements over the last few years. You know, the ones that are supposed to save us time and money. For instance, the "self checkout" lines at the grocery. The ones where the girl sits there and watches you like a hawk so you don't accidentally steal anything, and then looks at you as you beat the machine to death because the "do you have coupons" button won't work when you tap it. You know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I haven't noticed the price of groceries going down even though more and more of the workload falls on us, the paying customer. Less people there to help... so we scan, bag, pay, and get our own change from the machines... all for what?

So... this month I'd like to see how many letters we can have sent to our local Schnuck's store nominating me as "Self-Checker of the Month". I keep seeing all their employee's pictures framed up on the wall, but I've never seen these employees. I think it's time the working men and women take there rightful place on the wall of fame. With your help, I think we can get this done. Who's with me?!

(At the risk of being thought of as the poster boy for prostate exams, we may want to rename this award to "Non-Employee of the Month". Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.) If we can get this thing to catch on, I'll gladly add your name to the ballet.

What a difference a year makes.

After being held scoreless in last year's rookie season, Camden Cundiff came back with a vengence. Scoring 4 goals in the 2007 season opener before being rested much of the second half, Cundiff looked as though he was playing in a contract year. Asked about Camden's off season training and incredible opening performance, his father stated that "It was only a matter of time. What you saw here today, as impressive as it may have been, was only the tip of the iceburg. There is much, much more to come."

Talk is already beginning to circulate with speculations of league MVP and a record breaking 57 goal season.

It is time...

Ah yes, Pre-Season football. That leads to one thing... Football. How glorious it is to see our Colts back on the field.

I Love These Kids

Some fresh photos from this week's trip. I haven't had time to go through all the pics from the week, so I apologize that not all of the children are shown. There is more in the works, but I know many of you who were not able to go are anxious to see something. I hope you enjoy. I know we did. It was a great trip. Thanks to everyone who went!

Quotes

Why is it that our lives are made up of so many movie quotes? Is it that we want so bad to be the characters in the shows that we see or the books that we read, or do we just wish we could come up with the one liners as quickly as the characters or in just the right moments as they do? So, here's your chance... give me some of your favorites... We can see who can guess where they came from.

Are You Really Surprised?

Know Them By Their Fruit,

I hate to feel this way, but does it bother anyone else when a politician only begins to speak of their faith in God and their Savior Jesus as election time approaches? I never want to be judgmental of one's faith, Lord knows I have a hard enough time keeping myself in line, but doesn't scripture say something about this...?

Long Time...

Hard to believe it's been a year since I've seen my children. This month marks the anniversary. (and Hope looks none too happy about it)

(Neither am I, Hope... neither am I)

You'll be home soon.

Time

As I sit here and get ready to watch the final episodes of 24, the last of this year's season finales of my favorite shows, I can't help but realize that I watch entirely too much television. This year seemed to take even more time than prior years. There are the family favorites like American Idol (two nights a week), Michelle and my favorites like 24, The Unit, and The Office, and my favorites Heroes and, of course, Lost. Not to mention even more time during football season... all presented in glorious High Definition. The addition of DVR helps (especially now with the dual tuner... thanks hun, you're the greatest), but even watching my shows after the kids are in bed, and skipping all the commercials, it's still a lot of viewing. I'm going to have to work on that. Sure, it should be easier now that we're past the finales, but it's funny how we can still find ways to spend time on things that really aren't that important.

Top 5 habits to develop this summer:
  1. Spend more time in fellowship with my Lord
  2. Make more memories with my wife and children
  3. Help more people
  4. Earn some Shrute bucks
  5. Enter a room like Jack Bauer
